Community Alliance and Action Network, an organization that provides programming, support, and outreach services for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community (LGBT), is working on a collaborative effort with Guardian Angel, a non-profit organization focused on providing services to help their clients take control of their lives, to create and promote a domestic violence prevention services for LGBT people.

Barnes, in the American Bar Association Journal, (1998) notes that approximately 25-33% of gay and lesbian couples suffer from domestic violence-a statistic that is no different from the general population. Same sex sexual assault is tragically underreported because of the social stigma that comes about being gay and lesbian in our society. Some in the LGBT community understandably assume that resources available for victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault don't apply to them.
